It's a ceramic dish with a funnel shaped lid, used in Moroccan cooking. I would love to have one, but they're pricey so I want to know if it's worth it. What's your opinion?Have you ever cooked with a tagine?
I have 2 a ceramic blue with a pattern, and an aluminium one I got strangely at a Goodwill here in Toronto Canada, there nice and are both a cooking vessel and serving dish, just be careful removing them form the oven, and use a heatproof trivet or placemat.
I have found if you use gentle heat they cook best in the oven no hotter than 325, it an take 30-60 minutes, alot depend on the meat or veg you use, a shoulder of lamb for a tagine will take longer say 90 minutes chicken shorter, you can even use seafood like mussels, crab and fish.
I like veggie ones, with loads of veg and chickpeas, but there are many recipes on the net to look over.
Not yet, but I ordered one a few days ago and I'm waiting for it to arrive. My family really loves tagine kefta (Moroccan meatballs) made with ground turkey and lamb instead of beef.Have you ever cooked with a tagine?
Nope, never have. They are north African, if I'm not mistaken. They just don't look like they'd hold enough food to make the slow baking worth it. And I've never seen one at (what I consider) a reasonable price. I'm sticking w/ my covered casserole dishes.
I would think so. Ive seen it and been wanting one myself.
I have a small garlic roaster made of the same thing. Really like it and use it all the time.
I have the size bigger for flour tortillas, but haven't tried it yet.
NO, BUT SURE WANT TO
