I was told you did not need one but it does not make sense if you are going to another country, and does anybody know about how much it costs. I was thinking about a nickelodeon cruise my daughter loves spongebob she is five. thanksDo you need a passport for a cruise?
Passports are highly recommended. They aren't required, but definitely a good idea. Say something happens and you have to disembark unexpectedly... maybe you or your daughter get sick and have to fly back to the US. You would need the passport to re-enter the United States.
You do NOT need passports for a closed loop cruise and yes, you CAN get off in the ports! Thousands of people go on closed loop cruises every week without passports. If you were to get sick and need to fly home, you would need a passport. So, if you like, you may get them, but it is NOT required. See site below and read section on Closed loop cruises. If you are going on a cruise in the Caribbean or to Mexico, you do NOT need a passport to enter the ports. Your cruise line can confirm this. See 2nd site for passport info in case you want to get them. Cost is $135 for adults and $105 for kids.Do you need a passport for a cruise?
No, technically you do not need a passport for a 'closed loop' tour. It is STRONGLY recommended to have one. If you chose not to get off the boat at any of the foreign ports, you would not need one. But why travel to another country if you aren't going to get off the boat to see the new place? However, if *something* were to happen while you were on the cruise and you needed to get home quickly, you would have to wait until the boat docked at a US port to get off unless you had the passport.
Passports cost about $135 for adults. Children DO need a passport too.
The Nickelodeon cruises are through the Norwegian Cruise line. http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPag鈥?/a>
you do not need a passport as long as you are not getting off the boat , but your daughter might need one for a form of ID. although either way it is a good idea to have one, it could come in handy so i would reccomend you getting one, but it is not a necessity :)
Call the cruise company and ask them. I'm sure they have plenty of people standing by at toll-free numbers to take your call.
