I have to go on a cruise?!?!?!?

My dad said our vacation for 2011 was the Nickelodeon cruise, but I watch Discovery Channel/Animal Planet and I'm scared the boat might tip and I don't know if I'm seasick or not! I'm also scared I might fall off!!! He's forcing me to go when I say "No im scared!" Please help!I have to go on a cruise?!?!?!?
I am assuming your going somewhere in the carribean? If so, you will not get sea sick. they cruise very slow, and those ships are so huge, its basically a floating hotel. The technology in the building of those newer ships are beyond our comprehension. They will not tip, nor sink. They have radar, lifeboats glaore, and totally safe. They are so much fun! Unbelievable fun!. The railings are high, and mostly have plexiglass around them. you cannot fall off. Enjoy it. Its great. and it will be a fabulous memory!
Cruises are weigh tons and tons so don't worry, it's not going to tip over. If you get seasick, on board they sell little patches that you put behind you ears to get rid of that nauseous feeling. Or before you go, go to any drug store and you can buy pills to get rid of being seasick. Also when on the ship, try to hang out on the higher decks, those tend to be the best to be on when feeling seasick, because they don't feel as rocky as the lower decks.I have to go on a cruise?!?!?!?
You will be fine. And by the end of the cruise you will be asking yourself why was I so scared! I have a daughter that went on a cruise for the first time when she was eight for my other daughters wedding (12 year difference between my daughters) it was only five days and she was so scared but now shes almost twelve and we have been on two almost three cruises! (and she is my little cruise expert! I can ask her anything and she knows the answer!) But to make sure you aren't sea sick you can go to Walgreen's and there is a bracelet where if hits a pressure point and will make your sea sick gone. But cruises are so much fun! You will have a blast!
you will be fine, the ship wont tip over, and most people dont get sea sick. On my first cruise i was a little scared about it sinking and what not and after i went on it i was fine. Now i love going on cruises.
I guess we have movies, news reports, and amusement parks to thank for this paranoia that a lot of first-time cruisers seem to have.

Unlike that big, swinging boat ride you see at the amusement park, a cruise ship does not rock nearly to that extreme.

The titanic sunk because it collided with an ice berg. When was the last time you read about a ship that size sinking because of that?

It is almost impossible to fall off of a cruise ship accidentally. Most of the time, it happens due to carelessness, stupidity, or.... deliberately. It is extremely rare that someone would fall overboard entirely on their own. It is also extremely rare that a cruise ship would tilt (called listing) in such extreme as to knock someone off their feet or cause them to slip and fall. Most cruise ships will sail away from, or around a storm instead of sailing through it, to avoid those kinds of problems. Also, unlike a rowboat or a canoe, a cruise ship has stabilizers to minimize the rocking effect. Yes, you will still feel a little bit of motion, but you are much more likely to get sick on a rollercoaster or a high-speed elevator than you would from being on a cruise ship. You might feel a little bit of vibration and some minimal rocking motion, but it is NOTHING like being in a canoe on choppy water!

Being on a cruise ship really isn't much different than being in a big, fancy hotel. Some of those cruise ships are HUGE! Once you are on-board, unless you go out on deck or are next to a window, it's easy to forget you are even on a cruise ship. They really don't move very fast, either. I believe the top speed of a cruise ship is about 25 to 30 miles per hour. Sometimes, depending on where the ship is heading, and how far away it is from the next port of call, they don't always cruise at maximum speed.

You have nothing to worry about; you'll be fine! I'm confident that once you go, you'll really enjoy it, and want to go again. We can tell you all sorts of reassuring things, but sometimes the only way you'll know for sure what it is like is to try it yourself.

GO!!! And have yourself a wonderful time!
