I am going to visit Alcatraz. I was wondering if anybody can tell me if there's any parking around that area and how much per the hour or is it per the day? I did go to the tour site but I am looking for a little more deep information from an actual visitor. Thank you.Parking near pier 33? (Alcatraz Tours)?
There is a street-level parking lot almost directly across the street from the Alcatraz Tour pier. You drive in, find a spot, and then pay in a machine, and leave the receipt on the dash. However, it fills quickly, so unless you are on the first tour boat of the day, you probably will need to look elsewhere.
There are several multi-level parking garages in the area. There is one within sight of the pier, another directly beneath Ghiradelli Square and about a 15 minute walk away.
Parking isn't cheap, but it is available.

Accessible Parking
The Hornblower Alcatraz Landing at Pier 33 in San Francisco is fully accessible. There is limited accessible parking at Pier 33, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals need to show their permanent or temporary disabled placard at the entry of Pier 33 to utilize the accessible parking spaces.Parking near pier 33? (Alcatraz Tours)?
There's parking at Pier 35 for $20 all day weekdays, $25 on weekends.

There are also a few other lots nearby listed on central parking
As some others have said, if you're going to be there long, avoid the meters. The ones on embarcadero are very pricey, and many others are time limited.
Don't even think about parking on the street. Even if you could find a space, it's $3.00 per hour, the tour takes longer than the time on the meter, and the overtime ticket is $55.
Parking garages can range from $10 a day to $6 an hour. The farther away you are, the cheaper it is.
Imperial Parking Lot 20 at 2210 Stockton appears to have reasonable prices.
Is that all you want to do in San Francisco? Why not leave your car wherever you are staying and take Muni?
