Question about a website selling Alcatraz tours.?

I am going to San Fran on Monday and was wanting to see Alcatraz. Not just on a boat going around the Island either. I want to walk around and all that good stuff. I am a bit nervous about buying tickets from this place (link above) though. The prices are a bit cheap and I am not to sure if they will actually let me go on the island like I want to..Have you bought tickets from them before ? Did you actually go on the Island ?



If not do you know about any other web sites where I could go on Alcatraz and inside and etc..? I only want to go to Alcatraz though..I don't want to go on city tours and etc..



Straight to Alcatraz and then back is all I want.

Alcatraz work like this: You buy a ticked and you choose how long you want to stay because they have boats leaving the Pier and Island every hour, I think up until 3 or 4pm then they have a night tour. They give you headphones and you can choose to go around with the head phones or just walk around. That website seems to be legit, it actually seems more expensive then when I went the last time, I think I paid 12 dollars per ticket. Make sure you buy them in advanced or they may be sold out. I think I bought tickets from this site, but currently it is down for a few more hours.

PS Alcatraz is really interesting, I wish I stay longer the last time I went.
the last time i was in san francisco there was a place on the piers that did tours to alcatraz and yes they had ones that you could go through the prison. I don't know if its still running but I'm sure if you contacted AAA they would be able to get you exactly what you are looking for. I am always wary of online sites selling things you can get in person.

You see the National Park Service logo and disclaimer at the bottom right of screen. That means the site is authorized to sell Alcatraz tickets by the federal government. It is a felony to use the NPS logo without explicit permission from the U.S. Department of Interior.

I do not know about the website above, but you will be able to purchase tickets no prolem on Fisherman's Wharf.

That is where the boat departs from to go to Alcatraz Island. Once you arrive at The Rock, you will join your tour group. The group is guided by a US Park Ranger since Alcatraz is a US National Park.

You will be able to go into the cells and a lot of places inside the prison itself as well as getting some of the history of it. San Francisco is a great city. Have fun. Also, dont forget to go down Lombard Street.
