Hi, I'm heading to Boston, MA next week for our first trip. Very excited. We are planning on doing a whale tour. Is there any real difference between the tour companies. I've read about people getting motion sickness etc. I've never been one to experience that much, but plan to be prepared. Right now, I'm trying to decide between Boston Harbor Cruises or taking a tour with the New England Aquarium company? We'll be near Quincy Market and can access these harbors easily. Thanks!Which whale tour company Boston, MA?
If you can- 45 minutes away by car (you can also take the commuter rail for about $12) to Gloucester, Massachusetts for Whale Watches. The problem with Boston companies is that their boats are enormous and you are really far away from the whales. Gloucester, and I am pretty sure Provincetown (by Cape Cod) also offers whale tours to the same location (Stellwagon Bank) but you can actually see the whales. There are 4 whale watching companies in Gloucester: 7 Seas Whale Watch, Captain Bill's, Cape Ann Whale Watch, and Yankee Fleet. They are all basically the same since they are all so competitive.
Just take dramamine before you go, you'll be okay motion-sickness wise. I just strongly recommend a decent sized boat somewhere out of Boston. If that is too much trouble I understand, I just have done both and those Boston boats are absolutely enormous to the point where you are looking so far down at the whales instead of almost directly across at them.
My middle school class went on the Whale Watching trip near the Boston Aquarium. It was great ! We saw about 3 whales, they came right up to the boat. So I would recommend the whale watching tours that you sign up at near the Aquarium.Which whale tour company Boston, MA?
Boston Harbor Cruises are great and the New England Aquarium is a trip in itself-- awesome place. There's really no difference between whale cruises. They're about the same amount of money, the same size boat, and yes, the same chance of getting sick. Everything in that area is very close together. Make sure to check out duck tours too, as they are one of Boston's most famous attractions. No whales on that trip but you ride in a boat that becomes a car and you get to see all of boston! I've lived in Boston for my whole life and its a great city to explore. Have fun!
