Fun things to do in San Francisco?

I need to find a few fun things to do during the day for a friend and I while our husbands are in meetings in San Francisco. We are staying at a hotel in Mountain View, but would like to get out during the day and look around. We are doing an Alcatraz tour one day, and Fisherman's Wharf with our husbands.

Golden Gate Park juxtaposes a beautiful manmade object with the beauty of nature. That would be time well spent and free to boot.
