If you're coming from Washington, Pa., the route is almost entirely highway. So long as you avoid rush hour, traffic shouldn't be a major problem. If you leave Washington around 10-10:30 a.m., you should avoid most of the traffic headaches.

Is the pittsburgh zoo safe?
My 15 month old son %26amp; I are traveling with my husband to washington PA next week for his job. I am looking for some things to do with my baby while my husband is working during the day. I am not familiar with the washington pa or pittsburgh area at all %26amp; don't want to venture into an area of town that isn't safe. I know where I live there are very bad sections %26amp; I always feel so bad when I see an unknowing tourist there. Does anybody know if the zoo (where I park/distance we would have to walk to get to the entrance/neighborhoods I have to go through to get there/or even major traffic, as I just got a new car I'm not totally used to, so I'd kind of like to avoid traffic) would be a good option? Any other suggestions from natives welcome! Is the pittsburgh zoo safe?
